Boca Grande is one of the premier barrier islands on the Southwest Florida Coast. Take a trip of the causeway and find yourself into an enchanted island paradise. Known as the tarpon fishing capital, visitors and residents alike will enjoy the charm of this old Florida community. This golf cart friendly island has two beautiful resorts that preserve their historic charm.
Little Gasparilla Island is a place to return to “Old Florida.” This island is accessed by boat only and does not allow any cars. There are water taxis and ferry services available. Golf carts are the preferred method of transportation on this island. The crystal-clear waters make for amazing snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.
Palm Island is connected to Little Gasparilla by way of Don Pedro State Park. However, you can only get from one side to the other during extreme low tides, as the state park is not accessible to residents or visitors, but serves as a preserve for wildlife. Palm Island does have a car ferry and allows cars on the island, however, golf carts are still the preferred method of travel once on the island.
